Step 1: the introduction

When we first meet and during the initial consultation, we’ll use the time to get to know you as a business and as a person, as well as the exact nature of your requirement.

Only then can we appreciate the context behind your talent search and the criteria you’ve set – from setting financial and operational targets to skill sets and salary. It’s our job to listen to what you want, ensure it’s a realistic goal, and advise on next steps.

Step 2: the strategy

Following the introduction, Jefferson Search will get busy putting together a comprehensive brief that outlines what we believe to be the best approach – and how we’d advise positioning both your business and the opportunity. We do this to ensure only suitable prospects are engaged from the very beginning.

Then there’s the ‘wish list’ many clients supply us with of individuals they’d ideally like to speak with but can’t, due to non-solicitation agreements – or because they don’t want to reveal to a competitor that a change of leadership is in the offing. Either way, we’ll agree targets with you and advise on the best way to approach them.

Step 3: the evaluation

With Jefferson Search you’ll have access to a people network that’s been carefully developed over many years, and through it access to an extensive pool of executive talent. As a result, we’ll be well positioned to immediately begin identifying and pre-qualifying candidates who offer a ‘good fit’ – before compiling a shortlist for your consideration.

Once approved, we’ll move into evaluation mode and review the professional backgrounds, experience, and competencies of each individual on the list, as well as conducting thorough reference checks to ensure you have access to all the facts prior to meeting them. From here we’ll facilitate the formal introductions, and allow for full disclosure from both sides.

Step 4: the offer

Negotiations can be an emotional time, and lead to complexities that if not managed correctly can have a detrimental impact on the end result. That’s why at Jefferson Search we see ourselves as the neutral third party that can be approached by either party wanting to get key concerns or questions off their chests.

Our role here is simple: to help alleviate any potential obstacles threatening the process, and to smooth the way to a successful conclusion to negotiations. We’re rather good at it too.

Step 5: the exit

Once your new leader has accepted the formal offer – both verbally and in writing – we move to the final phase: disengaging them from their present employer.  During this time we’ll help you manage any counter offers that appear during the notice period. Safe to say we’ll remain in constant communication with all concerned, to help ensure you don’t suffer any unwanted surprises at the final hurdle.
